In an effort to carry out elements of my campaign promise and be transparent, we highlight the individuals I have met with over the course of initiating the campaign. We also highlight relevant campaign events.

Our hope is that by uncovering the efforts behind running this campaign, we can encourage others in our community to run their own. We need more people running for local positions, so hopefully this will illuminate the unknown offer some insights into how to get started.

What it Takes

These are the elements we need to make our grassroots campaign run.

Administration

  • Identifying key individuals. We identified local politicians, people who have ran the race before, and potential supporters of the campaign.

  • Scheduling meetings. We developed a shared campaign calendar and a list of possible meetings with select individuals who could provide information about running and funding a school board campaign.

  • Developing a campaign email address for necessary correspondences and to link to campaign forms. We used proton.me.

  • Organizing the team. We use Monday.com for program management and task assignments. Update 6.3.26: we have moved to our Solidarity Tech platform for project management to avoid Monday costs and we meet weekly to check in.

  • Creating a campaign timeline. This is a high level reference document to make sure we are on track.

  • Completion of CAN-1, which can be submitted online. Note, CAN-12 and CAN-34 must be completed in person, notarized with wet signatures.

Communication

  • Identifying appropriate technology (website, fundraising platform, etc.). We selected Solidarity Tech, offers a website, emailing, SMS communications, and event management.

  • Professional photos - see acknowledgments

  • Professional logo and select campaign color pallet - see acknowledgements

  • Purchase campaign domain - VoteSharp4IPS.com

  • Set up social media platforms - Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok

  • Developing a communications strategy that includes social media posts, blog posts, and videos.

  • Develop marketing materials for fundraising and outreach events.

Political Strategy

  • Identifying VAN access. VAN is voter information that will help with voter outreach. We've completed forms and reached out to several Democratic Party townships and are awaiting access. Update 7.7.2026 - we are still awaiting access.

  • Conducting research on all candidates in the forthcoming election to determine where we align and where we disagree.

  • Consider all endorsement options and apply to those that are consistent with the our campaign values.
